Mike Lynch offers a peak into the studio of the Lockhorns

Over on Mike Lynch’s blog, he’s posted several photos and the background story on Bill and Bunny Hoest’s creations, The Lockhorns and Howard Huge.  Last month, I was fortunate enough to snap a few photos of the studio where The Lockhorns (as well as a Howard Huge) is produced.Did you know The Lockhorns was originally titled The Lockhorns of Levittown?

Did Johnny Hart make another derogatory statement against Islam? (Updated)

This two panel cartoon begins with the turtle character stepping on something in tall grass and ends with a question, “What makes a bite thats shaped like a crescent moon?”…  I remember at the time defending Johnny on ToonTalk as the crescent is a common symbol/cliché used on outhouses and that people were inserting their own views into the strip, but now with this strip, I’m thinking that perhaps Johnny is capable of these clever puns (verbal or visual).

Cartoonists Take Up Smoking exhibit in D.C.

The National Museum of Health and Medicine recently opened “Cartoonists Take Up Smoking,” an exhibit showing over 55 original editorial cartoons on the topic of smoking.  The exhibit is part of a traveling show that was first unveiled in Kentucky but has also been on display in Seattle, Tscaloosa, and Birmingham.
