Doug Marlette will be in Hillsborough on October 29th to attend a reading sponsored by the Orange County Public Library. Doug’s book, Magic Time has been released and is available for purchase.

Fantagraphic Books has an exhibit in New York City featuring 30 years of cartoons by Fantagraphic cartoonists such as Bill Griffith, creator of Zippy the Pinhead.

Mike Lester, editorial cartoonist for The Rome News-Tribune, already has a goodly sum of book titles in his portfolio that he’s illustrated. The latest book is called “Ninety-Three in My Family” and is written by Erica S. Perl. The book’s release date was September 1 and is published by Abrams Books for Young Readers.
Coming next summer will be a second installment of Winsor McCay’s classic Little Nemo. The popular “Little Nemo in Slumberland: So Many Splendid Sundays” did so well that a second volume will be created that will include Winsor’s work from 1910 to 1914 and 1924-1926. The volume will be 120-130 pages.

According to E&P, a new book from University of Chicago Press entitled Revel with a Cause: Liberal Satire in Postwar America will be available on September 15. This book looks at political humorists of the 50’s and 60’s and includes Jules Feiffer and Walt Kelly.
