Am*zon Invades Independent Bookstore Day Events

Independent Bookstore Day is held on the last Saturday of April every year.

So naturally the 900-pound gorilla of book sales decides to have that and surrounding days as the weekend of their Spring sales event – doing what they can to ruin any effort by the small independents to survive.

Am*zon Book Sale Spring 2025

For anyone out and about Saturday April 26, 2025 please visit your local independent bookstore.

Some are celebrating in a big way, all are trying to survive. That may be harder when the tariffs go through.

Special events and exclusive offers may be available at your local indie bookstore.

The Daily Cartoonist salutes the sponsors of the 2025 Independent Bookstore Day.

Next week: Free Comic Book Day at your local comic book shop.

  1. I miss the good old days of the mall based chain book stores of B. Dalton and Waldenbooks and Crown Books and Borders. But Barnes and Noble is still around.

  2. BTW kudos to Ann Telnaes for having the guts to quit her job at the Post over censorship over a cartoon of hers (after 16 years) critical of Jeff Bezos. Right on, Ann! Sorry this is such a late comment, but I’m catching up on back issues of this bastion of freedom. Keep it up, boys and girls! We may not have much time to continue.
