Shiver Me Timbers by Summers – New Local Comic for HK News

(April 2, 2025) — Haddam Killingworth News has announced that the work of cartoonist Robert Summers will appear in the weekly print edition of the paper, which is delivered on Thursdays.

His cartoon strip, called “Shiver Me Timbers,” is about the lighter side of the life and times of those who enjoy the water, boats, and events along the shore. It first appeared in the “Put-In-Bay Gazette” in 1998.

HK Now reports the appearance of a new local comic strip.

His other published comic strips are “Race Car Heart” [link added] (short track stock car racing humor) “Riding Shotgun” (the trials and tribulations of the outdoorsman), and “Headwater Tales” (downhome adventures in rural Portage County Ohio).  Robert Summers’s drawings have appeared in numerous newspapers, journals, and magazines in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
