  1. Just noticed this evening after the afternoon shutdown outage GoComics is back online and working again.

  2. I tried the password reset several times throughout the day. It says that it sent a message with the verification code, but it never comes, not even to spam. I wrote to their support, but got only an autoreply that they will answer in 24 hours. I still got the daily email, but testing clicking on comics in the email was hit or miss, sometimes opening the page for the comic, sometimes getting a gocomics error page, sometimes getting a server error. First day score 1 out of 10 because at least the email came.

    1. I have the same issue, been trying since yesterday and to top it off today’s favorites in my email were actually yesterday’s comics!!!

  3. Not happy about this change. I already thought GoComics was kinda clunky and outdated, and now it’s even clunkier. I also hate how they jacked up the price from $20 to $35 a year, but I guess I kinda get why they did. I don’t like how uncomfortable the site is to navigate. The reading experience on my phone is really awkward too. I’m sad saved comics are gone but hopefully they’ll come back soon (with my saves intact). I also really hope they didn’t wipe away the 17 or so years worth of comments. What a mess. Remember when GoComics used to blow Comics Kingdom out of the water?

  4. While I liked the old site better, the new site still seems way more usable than comics kingdom. Viewing my favorites on the site was a smooth experience and date and navigation controls are intuitive and smooth. I remain able to say GoComics cares way more about user experience than CK does.

  5. Until the “updated today” filter works, this is a big step bacwards. It’s annoying enough with the main comics, bit the political ones are usually not updated daily.

  6. I can’t believe they f****d [expletive altered] it up the same way comicskingdom did! You can chose an individual date for each comic! How stupid is that? And each comic is too wide to fit on an iPad screen. And can’t be shrunk smaller, only made larger. And that’s after you get past the new password section whjpichntook me four tries.

  7. Attempted to do the password change last evening. The verification code didn’t show up in my email account until this morning, hours after the eligibility window ran out.

  8. Here’s what I just posted to their FB account in an attempt to get some sort of a response – even a grunt – out of them. I read the comics for a relief from my busy work day. Dealing with this mess is rapidly moving to the counter-productive, not worth it state…

“So this is insane. At the log on page on the website, I type in my email address to reset the password as apparently required. I’ve done that multiple times. The required code arrives HOURS LATER!!! after its validity has expired. When I try the latest code anyway, the site just snarls at me that it is expired. I feel like Yossarian in Catch-22!!!!☹️

  9. I am dealing with the same garbage as mentioned above for resetting my password. Can anyone recommend an alternative site for reading daily comics than GoComics? Their support is horrible. If you’re going to launch a new site platform, it should be an “all hands on deck” scenario. I guess they did not bother to do a pilot launch or proper beta test.

  10. Premium member here. I have been attempting to “reset my password since yesterday, I never got a code, not even after trying this AM.
I have some questions. Like Why didn’t they do the upgrade overnight instead of during the day? This is far from an “all hands on deck” event. Wonder how long it will take them to answer my complaint. Sent it in at 6:10am CDT

    1. They did it during the day because they wanted to wait until after morning peak. I got lucky on the password reset, must’ve done it before their mail server got overwhelmed. I appreciate the move to a stronger password, but that’s a transition that should have been phased.

  11. Submitted a support request for help with finding old features, like pinned, share, and date controls. Received the following:

Ticket #293***: Well, That Didn’t Go As Planned…

  12. Whew, glad to hear others are having the same issue with the verification code. Maybe I’ll just add a bunch more strips over on my Comics Kingdom account to get my morning cartoon fix, and try again GoComics again in a week or so when they have things worked out!!

  13. I’m a “guest.” This morning, my bookmarks all worked to show me the comics.

I will probably continue to use “guest” access.

    1. how do you get to guest access? I would be happy with that..mabe

  14. I get the daily email of my selected comics
First, the send time may have changed. I got the old one yesterday shortly after midnight as usual, then got the same day’s comics at 5 in the afternoon. Didn’t get today’s yet, maybe at 5pm?
Second, the new mail features a lot of white space around all the comics. Can no longer read them on my phone, have to go to laptop or desktop.

    Yay updates

    1. Oh, yeah, and I too can’t log in to the site

  15. I’m also waiting to receive a verification code..
Relieved to know that I am not alone in this.
Frustrated to know this is widespread.

  16. I still can’t log in. This morning, I got a verification code from one of the previous day’s attempts, but it was long expired and useless 6 hours late. Plus I got the cringeworthy “Well, That Didn’t Go As Planned…” email from support. For how many months in advance they have been announcing the change, you would have thought that they would have ensured that their servers could have handled the load, especially if they made the choice to force password changes at the same time.

  17. Well, is still my go-to educational Section, but I am generally displeased with the new format. I need to muddle about to see if I can get the thing to display in a manner that is more pleasing to my eye. In the end, it’s still worth the price.

  18. Like many of the other commenters here, I cannot log in, cannot get them to send a password reset code, and clicking on the “need help” link yields a cutesy 404 message. The url shows as https://www.gocomics.com/help. And there’s not a single word of explanation to loyal followers. A simple email with an explanation and/or apology would be nice. I mean, they have our email addresses, don’t they?

I’ve had an account with them for somewhere between 15 and 20 years. This time, it looks like they’ve truly made love to the queen’s corgis, as Tahani Al-Jamil would say. (ref: The Good Place).

It’s quite probable that whatever IT crew they have or had are simply not up to dealing with the problems that a major changeover can bring to light. I believe resolution will take a lot more time, and many complaints from from advertisers whose ads are not being seen.

Whatever reputation GoComics had is well and truly shot to Hades now.

  19. While I was able to reset my password without issue, I cannot find anyway to post comments! Has anyone else been able to comment? I am a premium member.

  20. THIS UPDATE SUCKS I WAS TRYING TO READ ALL OF CHARLIE BROWN BUT NO THEY MADE IT PAYED> IMNOT GOING TO PAY 35 BUCKS TO READ IT>……..!!!!!!!!!1 ALSO I CANT LOG INTO MY OLD ACCOUNT EVEN!!!!!!!! ALSO HOW DO U COMMENT BC I DONT SEE AN OPTION

  21. Is the search function a premium subscriber benefit now? I can’t find it on the base access. Why would anyone running a modern website like this eliminate the search function?

I have to go to comics a-z, get the first letter, browse through all the comics that share the same first letter, then open the comic I came for. In the old version, the search function was easy to find and use.

  22. They deleted two-thirds of my Followed Comics, which I keep in alphabetical order. Every thing after “F” is gone. I now have to re-follow them ONE AT A TIME? The old system had a single page with ALL comics, where you could scroll down and add them all at once. This is NOT an upgrade. Also, I have to leave the page to click back through recent comics? Or leave a comment?

I really was not worried about the major price increase. But with this set-up, I am having to do just as much clicking around as with a Free Membership. I am hoping this is still in Beta, because it is NOT value for money. And if these issues are not addressed, soon, I will be canceling my membership.

I pay for convenience, and for the savings in time. This has neither

    1. I’m missing a lot of my followed comics too. My daily comics e-mail also has only some of the comics — Wednesday’s was even fewer than Tuesday’s — and doesn’t even mention, for example, Peanuts either by including it or making the claim that there wasn’t an update.

I haven’t started re-adding because my expectation is that this reflects a lot of bugs they didn’t find in beta-testing. I’m going to give it a couple days to settle down before making any big changes, so I don’t accidentally screw up their attempts to un-screw-up things. I’m curious what’s wrong with their testing that every time they deploy a big update it’s a mess like this, though.

Will say the new page seems to load swiftly and scroll without a problem, but dropping from 150+ comics down to six will do that too.

  23. I still can’t login, and they didn’t even send a daily email. The least they could do is to give guests full access until they get their act together to fix logins.

  24. If you have an account, your browser probably has a cookie from last month. Try either dumping them, accessing the site with a different browser, or in incognito/private mode, which makes you a guest, You’ll lose some privileges, but you can read the day’s comics.
