GoComics Reboot Set For April 1st

GoComics has set the date for when the new, improved site will rejigger itself.

From a March 18 message to GoComics subscribers:

We continue to put the finishing touches on the updated GoComics, and we have an official launch date: Tuesday, April 1! (No fooling.)

GoComics Blog has also noted the relaunch date:

Exciting news: On April 1, you’ll be introduced to a brand-new GoComics with a host of upgraded features and improved functionality—and more will roll out throughout 2025!

Other than revealing the date there is no other news than what they told us five weeks ago.

So two weeks until The Big Reveal.

  1. But will it be better – or just better built to assault the faithful? The site was broken on Monday without explanation or apologies on Monday. Get ready.

  2. Please don’t “fix” it like that horrible Comics Kingdom. Worst navigation for comics there.

    1. Agreed. This news is giving me PTSD from the Comics Kingdom debacle.

  3. I stg if they pull a Comics Kingdom and limit comic access to non-subscribers (which is surely looking to be the case)…

    1. If they go to only paid subscribers on April 1, I’m done. Way too many web pages want you to pay to comment or read articles and no one can afford to do that much. I’ll just give them up is all and do something else

      1. Sadly we just found out that the comics would only be available in the past 30 days for non subscribers, with the entire comic archive available for paying members ONLY. F*k them.

  4. I cannot wait to see what they’ve done with the place! One improvement would be to include crowdfunding for exclusive content. I added a paid subscriber feature to my comic strip’s site for exclusive content and the move was a huge success.

Also hoping for a cleaner mobile experience. The current site is a tad heavy.

  5. They talk subscibers as in paid subscribers. I follow a handful of comics daily but pay nothing, does that mean on April 1, the surprise, you have to be a paid subsrciber to read them?
I mean if they were making changes but no changes to the amount you pay, they dont need a launch date just do it.

  6. So far, as an unpaid user, the site is total FUBAR. Nav is terrible, about 1 in 5 “click to read” fails. Shows I’m following 68 comics, but when I view one there is a radio button that insunuates I can follow thac comic. I can only go through the list down page one at a time, then use back to go back to the list, then pick another. After a few “try again” load fails, tried to staart over. At that point, I only get a page that shows the pricing and no access to my single “free” page. Then in the last few minutes it all apparently crashed and I get a lot of “try again” responses to anything off the main page. Now – web responds with “The request is blocked.” and service is unavailable.
