February 20 Update

Amiable Amy Anderson, Executive Director at King Features Syndicate, has supplied The Daily Cartoonist with more information about the Lowland Station Tales episode of Flash Gordon including:

LOWLAND STATION TALES, an exciting new story from Flash Gordon’s Dan Schkade. For seven weeks beginning Feb. 10, we follow a group of strangers waiting out a storm in a remote alien transit center, each of whom just so happens to have crossed paths with Flash Gordon and his allies. Every new week shows us a different character’s story, as drawn by a different guest artist. The full run was written by Dan Schkade. It’s a great jumping on point for new readers, and leads seamlessly into a new storyline starting in April.

  1. The seven-week event will run from 2/10/25 to 3/30/25
  2. It features five accomplished guest artists, each drawing a week of daily strips
  3. The strips are written by Dan Schkade
  4. The guest artists are, in publication order:

Some collaborator quotes:

J. Bone (The Spirit, Welcome to Maynard): “I’ve been a fan of Dan’s for a while now, and am always up for drawing Pulp Heroes. The Flash Gordon story Dan wrote for me is right up my alley.”

Sandy Jarrell (Secret Identity, Jimmy Olsen’s SuperCyclopedia): “Dan’s Flash Gordon is my favorite part of the funny pages! It was a real thrill to contribute to Lowland Station Tales.“

Ted Naifeh (Courtney Crumrin, Night’s Dominion): “Flash is a cornerstone of pop culture history, and I’ve always wanted to take a crack at him. And Dan knew this particular storyline would be right up my alley. What a pleasure it was to work with such a generous and talented collaborator.”

Jordan Gibson (Batman: The Adventures Continue, Go Go Power Rangers): “I’m delighted to collaborate with the uber-talented Dan Schkade on Flash Gordon! Dan channels the adventure-serial spirit of the character, making it feel exactly as Flash Gordon should—timeless yet nostalgic, bold, colorful, and unapologetically thrilling.”
