Shoving Off

Prince Valiant was full of ships yesterday.

The Tom Yeates title panel and the big shipping out panel in yesterday’s Prince Valiant was matched by the December 16, 1984 Vintage Prince Valiant page by John Cullen Murphy that Comics Kingdom also issued yesterday.

We can only hope, for Arn’s sake, that Val’s ship doesn’t make any wrong turns like Andy Bear did in Saturday’s Pluggers.

Mark Parisi doesn’t go off course but rather off-color with double entendre gag in Saturday’s Off The Mark.

There seems to be the more than usual number of comic strips in rerun status this week (at least ten). So what happened eight weeks ago?

At least Luann lets the readers know. It would be hard to pass the 1994 characters as new.

Karen and Greg Evans even let their fans know with their newsletter where they explain what they were doing eight or so weeks ago:

This coming week you’ll see something rare in LUANN: Greg taking a week off! Since the strip began in 1985, there have only been a few times that material has been repeated for this reason. Greg and Karen work at least 8 weeks in advance of publication, so our actual “time off” was back in October and used for a bit of travel and some work on a fun side project we hope to have ready to share with you sometime in 2025.

And then shows a spreadsheet of just how far ahead they do work. (They are done through mid February 2025 and are at least “outlined” to the end of February 2025.

Speaking of rerun alerts: Next Door Neighbors.

Pat Sandy usually lets us know with big marquee notice, but that didn’t happen today.

It looks like someone made off with the Quincy proof sheet for the week of May 6-11, 1974.

Voila!

    1. Yeah. 1084 was when Boltar’s tale took place. 1984 was when Murphy told us about it. Corrected.
