Alexandra Bowman Signs with Cagle Cartoons
Skip to commentsAlexandra Bowman has announced ( Bluesky –Facebook – X/Twitter – LinkedIn ) that she has signed to have Cagle Cartoons distribute her political cartoons around the nation:
Here’s the big news… I’ve signed with Cagle Cartoons, America’s largest editorial cartooning newspaper syndicate. Newspapers nationwide will have the opportunity to select and publish my work.
Syndicate head Daryl Cagle (thank you so much for this opportunity!) has encouraged me to use my own style, voice, and original characters as much as possible. He believes (and I didn’t pay him to say this—he will be paying me) cartoons with animal characters will be more popular with audiences than ones with humans. Ergo, it’s Eliot the Late Night Host Cat’s time to shine.
More to come about this.
The young Alexandra has been on The Daily Cartoonist’s radar for over four years.
Earlier this year Alexandra was the recipient of the inaugural John Locher Memorial Award which honors “early-career cartoonists whose work demonstrates both clear opinions and strong artistry on political and social topics.”
The Association of Editorial Cartoonists gave bona fides on hand her the award:
Bowman is a political cartoonist, journalist, and satirist based in Washington, DC. She served as the editorial cartoonist for the political action committee The Lincoln Project during the 2020 election, and later drew for the John Kerry and John Kasich-founded environmental organization World War Zero. Her cartoons been published by BBC News, the National Wildlife Federation, and Penguin Random House UK. She also works as a costume designer and arts and culture writer.
That John Locher win came with the opportunity to contribute to Counterpoint’s newsletter which in turn made her cartoons available to newspapers.
Alexandra doesn’t yet have a page up at Cagle Cartoons, but it is coming soon.
Congratulation Alexandra!
