TBD Is Not To Be Determined

In Comics Kingdom TBD now stands for TBD (Toons By Dan), that’s Dan Mosdea.

From the TBD (Toons By Dan) “about” page:

TBD (Toons by Dan) is a curated collection of single-panel cartoons by award-winning cartoonist Dan Misdea. Featuring some of his best, worst, and weirdest ideas, this series includes never-before-seen cartoons, once rejected by The New Yorker and beyond. Now, they’ve been reimagined and redrawn in a familiar, timeless format for your enjoyment.

Dan Misdea joins E. S. Glenn on Comics Kingdom making something from their piles of unsold cartoons.

Is Comics Kingdom becoming the modern reincarnation of 1000 Jokes?

Cartoonist Lee Lorenz described cartoonists making rounds and making a sale to 1000 Jokes:

After The New Yorker stop, they moved on: Collier’s, The Saturday Evening Post, Esquire, Sports Illustrated, Ladies’ Home Journal, American Legion, True, Cavalier, Playboy. “At the end of the day,” Mr. Lorenz said, “you’d go to 1000 Jokes, published by Dell, and the editor would sop up whatever was left.”

It seems Dan Misdea’s TBD (Toons By Don), like E. S. Glenn’s New Tricks, will appear twice a week, so The Kingdom will need at least one more magazine cartoonist to contribute twice weekly to fill out the schedule.

Elsewhere…

Dee Parson’s Rosebuds has a really nice sentimental reason-for-the-season strip today.

The joke isn’t out of place on the funny pages, but it did strike me as a little coarse for a Beetle Bailey.

Schulz Synchronicity.

I guess it is the season for Schulz as FurBabies and Shoe both referenced Peanuts on Monday.

And yes, it really is time for GoComics to change that credit from Gary Brookins to Ben Lansing.

Seems strange to to have three fingered Andy Bear as one of the Pluggers claiming all his fingers were there.

I guess Mike was right, any season is the season of the witch. Though I think Keiran Castaño, like Liniers before, came up with his Ripley’s Believe It or Not about two months ago.

Speaking of Liniers…

I think the Duendes ought to step out of the Macanudo borders and find out.

After Rick Burchett‘s classic depiction of Dick Tracy and Sam Catchem in the recent Minit Mysteries rerun

I less enthused by Charles Ettinger‘s portrayal of the coppers.
