The Sunday Funnies, Section Two

So whatever did happen to Lyman? Jeff Corriveau supplies the answer in today’s Deflocked.

I ain’t got no higher learnin’ in English, but I gotta argue with Ralph Hagen here. From my western upbringing that second panel statement in today’s The Barn should be, “I’se lookin’ fer the varmint WHAT stole my horse!”

On the other hand I couldn’t agree more with Wulff & Morgenthaler in today’s WuMo that the humble and modest Dolly is a far better representative of goodness on Earth than the vast majority of those who claim to be.

Hey! If Mike can go out of his way and find us a Barney & Clyde with black lines, can I do any less and bring you today’s title panel for Doonesbury? A nice Christmas themed panel by Garry Trudeau to accentuate today’s strip.

Those of you who check out our Facebook page already know that I nominated the opening (drop) panel of today’s Gasoline Alley as Comic Panel of the Day. But Jim Scancarelli snuck in something along with that charming North Pole scene – letter from Skeezix to Santa from 1924! And 100 years of Sundays ago, on December 14, 1924, we have:

Kinky Synchronicity.

While looking for that 1924 Gasoline Alley Sunday I ran across the December 3 Gasoline Alley of that year.

and then I read today’s Rabbits Against Magic.

With Frank King‘s subtitle and Jonathan Lemon‘s second panel script I couldn’t help but think of The Kinks.

It’s a shame Charlie Podrebarac‘s Kansas City didn’t play Paul Trap‘s Green Bay today.

We could have had a Cowtown – Thatababy crossover event.

It’s the little things.

I like how Dana Simpson has the hair, the mane, the scarves and the trees all flowing eastward (as shown in my monitor) in the breeze in today’s Phoebe and Her Unicorn.

If I can argue with Jeff Corriveauabove I can argue with Randy Milholland down here.

I really doubt that if Octopus’s Garden, which George helped write the music, hadn’t been on Abbey Road another George Harrison song would have been on that album as Randy proposes in today’s Popeye. Either Paul McCartney would have another song, or more likely John Lennon to balance the Lennon/McCartney contributions.

Since Archie came to my attention the other day I have been checking it out. Something I haven’t done for decades it seems. When did Archie trade in his jalopy for a Mustang? Apparently sometime in the 1980s.
