Giving (and Getting Original Art) Tuesday

Consider supporting a favored cartoonist and consider supporting Cartoonists Rights.

Original Wallace the Brave Comic Strip Art

Cartoonist Will Henry has an offer for you:

This Holiday season I’ve decided to make some of my original comics available for purchase. I figure I’d rather have them out in the world instead of sitting in storage in my attic. Also, childcare ain’t cheap! Check out my ebay shop- https://tinyurl.com/2fzb5dh2

Will had some dailies which have apparently been sold. The Sundays are 9 inches high and 24 inches wide.

SUPPORT CARTOONISTS RIGHTS, MARKING TWENTY-FIVE YEARS IN THE FIGHT FOR FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION

A message from Cartoonists Rights Executive Director Terry Anderson:

Dear CARTOONIST DEFENDER,
I’m hoping you’ll consider donating this Giving Tuesday as we prepare to mark 25 years defending the freedom of expression of cartoonists, and continue to work collaboratively and in partnership with like-minded organizations around the world.
Regrettably, 2024 has evidenced many highly concerning instances of cartoonists’ persecution, from the imprisonment and alleged beating of Atena Farghadani in Iran, to the rolling “pretrial detention” of Ashraf Omar in Egypt, and the astonishing twenty-three year prison sentence handed down to Mohamed Al-Hazza in Saudi Arabia. Elsewhere, Turkish cartoonist ZehraÖmero?lu still awaits the outcome from her protracted trial on criminal charges of “obscenity”. And cartoonists everywhere were dismayed by the death of Mahasen al-Khatib in Gaza.
In addition to the mounting issue of authoritarianism overseas, the changing domestic political climate is making the work of non-profits that much harder. The legislation in bill HR 9495 – set to come before the Senate shortly – could be used by the office of the President and Treasury Secretary to target civil and human rights organizations, stripping them of their 501(c)(3) status.

I appreciate times are hard, and we all have pressing obligations. Whatever you can spare will still help us in our mission. And if you cannot donate, please consider amplifying our message. Thank you!

For a donation of $500 you can have your pick of my cartoons (if they’re still available). They’re one of a kind (not some NFT BS) original pen and ink watercolors. They’d make a great and unique gift for any of the cartoon nerds in your life.

You can peruse my wares on my archive page here — > https://www.politico.com/news/matt-wuerker
