In 1924 King Features Syndicate offered newspapers an illustrated column by cartoonists in their stable. With Jimmy Murphy, Billy DeBeck, Amram Scheinfeld, Charles Dunn, Winsor McCay, Darrell McClure, George Herriman, TAD, Cliff Sterrett, and George McManus.

  1. “By Windsor M’Cay, famous sports writer”. Wow, King Features sure knows how to show appreciation to their star cartoonists, who were probably made to do the cartoons and write the gags on the gratis.

    1. I think “sports writer” was an intentional joke, possibly even by McCay himself. A century later, there is no way to know for sure.
