The CBC Inteviews Michael de Adder

Editorial cartoons are being seen by more people than ever, but the income that supports them is drying up. Fresh after being let go from his 30-year newspaper job, renowned editorial cartoonist Michael de Adder talks to The National’s Ian Hanomansing about the perils of his profession in the age of social media.

Ian Hanomansing of the CBC’s The National interviews Michael de Adder in a 14 minute audio/visual segment.

Ian asks Michael about two controversial cartoons, about editorial cartooning as a career, about print vs. digital publication (one pays much better than the other, though the other gets far more views), Michael compares cartooning conventions from thirty years ago and today, and discusses reaction to his satirizing conservative and liberal politicians.

Michael’s THE deEP STATE Substack is currently running 100 things Donald Trump did as President in eight installment chunks of very brief statements of “accomplishments” and illustrated with de Adder cartoons.
