    1. The earliest I have seen Never Been Deader running in the ol’ fishwrap was last
October of 2023 when The Great Bend Tribune began carrying the comic strip:

Newspapers.com shows sister papers The Santa Maria Times and The Hanford Sentinel
picking up the daily Never Been Deader last month on August 7, 2024 – a Wednesday.
They also picked up the new Dumplings comic strip at the same time,
following the lead of Horizon newspapers in June of 2024 (who also picked up Insanity Streak):

Last October George Gant replied to a quip of mine about his Beware of Toddler:
“‘That one time’ is my strip and as of this past January [2023], has been in print.
I don’t know where … but it is being printed somewhere.”

After asking others elsewhere for help to find BoT no one came forward with any information,
but apparently King was paying George for print and digital syndication.
This (Lee) is the first proof positive I have of Beware of Toddler appearing in a print paper.

73 new Sunday clients has to be a major boost for both these cartoonists.

  1. While it is nice to see a few isolated fresh items in the set, it must be emphasized that Lee and/or King has put together an incredibly ancient collection to foist off on their readers. Out of ten dailies, seven are zombies, as are three out of the four strips on the front page of the Sunday section. The one “exception” (Zits) is 27 years old and is produced by men who have already reached retirement age. Call it a “zombie in waiting”.

  2. As for editorial cartoons: since the switch-over and including a full page of them on Tuesday, the Racine Journal Times has run a mix of Andrews-McMeel and King Features cartoonists: Bok, Breen, Deering, Markstein, Ramirez, and Varvel. So far, not Andrews-McMeel’s Phil Hands, the only Wisconsin editoonist in either package.
