JP Trostle at the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists reminds us that
…most of journalism’s major awards are handed out in the spring, with the deadlines to enter in the dead of winter. There is, however, one outlier: The National Press Foundation’s Clifford K. and James T. Berryman Award.
Named after the only father-son duo to win the Pulitzer Prize, the Berryman is “open to U.S.-based editorial cartoonists for work that exhibits power to influence public opinion, plus good drawing and striking effect… and represent the highest standards of journalism.”

Deadline for Entry: Monday, Sept. 30, 2024
Eligibility: Editorial cartoons published from Sept. 30, 2023 – Sept. 30, 2024.
Entry Fee: A non-refundable $25 fee for each entry should be paid by credit card.
The National Press Foundation’s annual journalism awards dinner will honor top journalists on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the Ritz-Carlton Washington, D.C.
