The Clay Jones Streak Continues

A couple years ago GoComics noted that Clay Jones had a five year run of posting an editorial cartoon on that site every day. An incredible record. A couple months ago The Daily Cartoonist noted that the streak continued, comparing it to Lou Gehrig’s and Cal Ripken’s streaks of consecutive games played.

Well today marks 2,633 days of Clay Jones posting a new editoon on GoComics every day, surpassing Ripken’s 2632 record of consecutive games played.

Even more amazing is every cartoon is accompanied by a column by Clay!

Congratulations Clay! Next up is 3,000. Only a year and two days away of nose to the grindstone.

While you can’t congratulate Clay at GoComics these days, his Claytoonz website still accepts comments.

  1. Clay Jones is truly remarkable. Extremely hard-working and creative as well as very funny. He deserves the highest recognition.

  2. Thanks, guys, and thanks for counting. It’s a cool analogy.

  3. But does he ever get the time off to make a FredNats game?

    1. I haven’t been to one this year and only saw half an inning last season (rain). I did see a Nationals game in DC on Juneteenth. I wanted to see the Mets when I was in Queens but they were out of town. I would have gone to see the Yanks and Reds but it was too blistering hot to sit through that. I wanted to see a Brewers game while I was in Milwaukee for the RNC, but it was during the All-Star break. I’m gonna try to see the Cubs when I’m in Chicago…I just haven’t checked the schedule yet.
But yeah, I also need to check out the FredNats this year. A friend has season tickets she’s generous with.

  4. This update on the streak came on the same day he announced that CNN would no longer be using his work in their newsletter. So, maybe a bit bittersweet. ???? Still, great stuff Clay Jones. Keep the streak alive!!

    1. Sorry, I just now read today’s article (I was a day behind) and see that you covered this. Apologies for the repeated info.
