Play Ball! with Jim Borgman
Skip to commentsFormer Cincinnati Enquirer editorial cartoonist (and de facto sports cartoonist) and current Zits comic strip artist Jim Borgman returns to Cincinnati to throw out the first pitch of an upcoming Reds game.
The Enquirer’s renowned former cartoonist Jim Borgman is returning to the Queen City and stepping up to the Reds’ pitching mound.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist is throwing the first pitch at the Reds’ game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday, June 25.
To make the homecoming really great and a throwback to his youth, it will be a game of catch with Jim and his younger brother, not on Crosley Field but still, on the Reds infield!
His brother, fellow Cincinnati native Tom Borgman, will step in as catcher.
He accredits his daughter, Chelsea Borgman, for helping organize his Reds debut.
“It’s a gift of a lifetime that she’s making this happen,” he said. “All the favorite things I’ve drawn in the past few years have been with the Reds radio (playing) in the background.”
The game starts at 7:10 p.m. and the first pitch will be thrown around 6:45 p.m.
The Cincinnati Enquirer First Pitch article about Jim includes a slide show of Jim’s Cincinnati Bengals cartoons; we felt it more appropriate to go with Jim’s baseball drawings from the 2015 All-Star inserts from The Enquirer.
