Henry Barajas and Tribune Content Agency have come to terms and Henry re-signs as Gil Thorp scripter.
Henry Barajas has mentioned that last year when he took on plotting and scripting chores for the Gil Thorp comic strip he had a one year contract. It seems that has been extended as The Chicago Tribune welcomes him as the writer for Gil Thorp’s 65th anniversary year:
Wayne Lown, general manager of TCA, says, “‘Gil Thorp’ has always tackled the issues of the day head-on, and Henry has done a great job carrying on that tradition but in a new voice.”
“It is important to me to not disappoint current and long-time fans,” says Barajas. “My goal is to bring the strip into our current age, with all of its complexities. I hope to do Gil justice by engaging regular readers and attracting new ones.”
Undisclosed is the length of the new contract.
In the e-mail version of this story, the first sentence arrived wrapped onto two lines:
“Henry Barajas and Tribune Content Agency have come to terms and Henry re- [line break!]
signs as Gil Thorp scripter“, making the word “re-SIGNS” look like “RESIGNS”.
I thought he had quit.
I started following the strip when I heard there was a new writer in town and I haven’t been disappointed so far. I like Barajas’ approach to it and I’m looking forward for this next season! Here’s for many more!
