With the Mother Goose and Grimm comic strip switching syndicates come January 1
The (Columbus, Ind.) Republic has informed readers of a forthcoming change on their comics page.
A change in the comics lineup is coming for The Republic.
King Features, the syndicate supplying the comics for the newspaper, recently informed The Republic that Mother Goose & Grimm will leave the syndicate in January.
The Republic will replace the comic with The Brilliant Mind of Edison Lee beginning in January.
A look at The Republic comics’ page from earlier in 2022:
“King Features, the syndicate supplying the comics for the newspaper, recently informed The Republic that Mother Goose & Grimm will leave the syndicate in January.”
Either the editor of the paper was misinformed or they didn’t understand what they were told…or a little of both. Mother Goose & Grimm simply changed syndicates, not went out of syndication.
@Wiley Miller Hence, the sentence stating “leave the syndicate”.
Which reminds me of the last time MG&G changed syndicates.
We (local paper) weren’t told it was still available and were, instead, given a different strip to run in its place. I contacted Mike Peters and he let me know it was still and live and well, and where to find it, so we corrected the “error.”
Keep your head on a swivel and protect yourself at all times.
(Reading that again, they buy a package from KFS. So if a strip is no longer at King, it is no longer part of what they can offer their readers. Not how I’d do it, but not the first time I’ve differed with a corporate decision.)
