Comic strips

A Comics Kingdom Cavalcade Weekend

Yesterday Bill Griffith thought about his boyhood ambitions.

Today Bill used his talents to pay tribute to the passing of his wife, Diane Noomin.

Susie and Ben portray Shoe, the put upon newspaper editor, in a factioned world.

Mara Llave: Keeper of Time, the new web only comic by Alex Segura and Nickolej Villiger, will be issued more or less weekly with a mixture of daily and Sunday formatted strips.

Nickolej noted in the debut appearance comments that:

… the frequency of the strip at this current moment in time is planned for a weekly (or in some cases a bi-weekly) release. We will be sharing five “Dailies” and one “Sunday” for the foreseeable future. This is due largely to an effort to accommodate both Alex and I’s incredibly busy schedules.

Time is relative and we’re going to have to be relatively patient
getting this comic strip that looks to be climbing the list of our favorites.

A bit more than five years ago Rina Piccolo began collaborating with Hilary B. Price on Rhymes With Orange. Like the Bizarro Studio partners, Dan and Wayno, Hilary (Sundays) and Rina (dailies) mostly kept to their territories. But lately Rina has been taking on some Sundays. Rina assisted with a couple Sundays last month (October 2  and October 23, 2022) and now Rina has co-signed two Sundays in a row (November 13 and November 20, 2022). Stay tooned.

Mutts cartoonist Patrick McDonnell is out with a new newsletter with news:

I’m enthused about a project that I have been working on with fellow cartoonist and Charles M. Schulz Museum board member Robb Armstrong. It’s in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Charles Schulz’s birth…

The cover for my collaboration with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Heart To Heart, has finally been revealed (!) and the book will soon be available for pre-order, including here at MUTTS.com…

Plus more about the Me…Jane musical and the upcoming Giving Tuesday.

  1. Re Rhymes With Orange and signatures…I don’t know Dan and Wayno’s creative process for Bizarro, but I wanted to clear up any mystery around the creative process for Rhymes With Orange. Rina and I function as a team on both the dailies and the Sundays. You will be seeing more of Piccolo and Price signings on future Sundays, and that is a reflection of our collaboration. I so love our partnership!

  2. Thanks for clearing that up Hilary.
I always thought you and Rina worked very close on the dailies but you took on the Sundays, which is why, until lately, Rina didn’t sign those.
My understanding (not intimate knowledge) of Dan and Wayno from their weekly blogs is that Dan works, more or less, as the editor of Wayno’s dailies, suggesting gags and maybe changes in layouts and captions and, as creator of the panel, okaying the daily batches. Dan does the Sundays.
Like Rina with your RWO, Wayno had spelled Dan prior to coming on to Bizarro full time.
