The Easter Bird by Walt Scott

Those Disney and Newspaper Enterprise Association Christmas strips get all the fame and glory, while the Easter strips get forgotten. But there were special daily comic strips created for the weeks leading up to Easter. For a short while in the 1950s they were an annual tradition for NEA and the cartoonist was the same one making their Christmas strips in The Fifties.

  1. Was this Easter strip among the inspiration lines of Walt Kelly’s Pogo comic strip?

  2. Darryl — Pogo started in 1948, but I definitely see the influence. Or should I just lament the cartoonist’s craftsmanship that seems lost?
