News Site Defaces Then Posts Steve Breen Cartoon

The alternative news site OB Rag, which serves the Ocean Beach area of San Diego, took a San Diego Union-Tribune cartoon by Steve Breen, changed it dramatically, and then posted it on their website.

The site showed their altered version under the heading
“We Added Some Color to Steve Breen’s Pro-War Editorial Cartoon”:

Granted they admit to fiddling with the toon:

Could not leave alone Union-Tribune editorial cartoonist Steve Breen’s piece of work … added some color to his graphic.

But they did considerable more than just “add[ing] some color.”

As Steve’s original from the Union-Tribune shows their added color covered up a label, they added script, and erased lines/objects in fulfilling their purpose of twisting the editorial to their thinking; all the while leaving the Steve Breen signature and San Diego Union-Tribune credit on the revision.

Then the site comments they “didn’t provide a link [to the original] … kind of intentionally.”
