Bunny Matthews Crowd Funder for Final Costs

New Orleans alternative cartoonist and music critic Bunny Matthews has decided to discontinue cancer treatment and entered hospice. His family has created a crowd funding page for final costs.

From Gambit:

Jude Matthews said in a statement on the Musicians Clinic’s website that his father’s life earnings from his prolific creative works have been “snapped up by the high price of fighting cancer.”

Born Will Bunn “Bunny” Matthews III in Monroe, he for decades contributed words and drawings to Gambit, the Times-Picayune, New Orleans Magazine and served as the editor of OffBeat magazine, covering music and culture from 1999 until 2005, when Hurricane Katrina temporarily shut down the publication.

From Offbeat:

… 10 years post-Katrina, [Bunny] became victim to CNS-lymphoma. His wife Debbie also fell victim to cancer and died in 2018. After surgery and several bouts of chemo and remission, Bunny’s cancer returned. He has chosen not to continue treatment and is in hospice. The New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic has created a fund for Matthews’ end-of-life costs at the request of his son, Jude Matthews.
