Animator/Director Gerald Potterton Turns 90

Happy 90th Birthday to animator and director Gerald Potterton.

Most famous for directing the animated Heavy Metal movie from 1981,
Gerald also animated cartoons and directed live action films.

From  Wikipedia:

Potterton has been nominated three times for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film: as director on the National Film Board of Canada animated shorts My Financial Career and Christmas Cracker, and as producer for The Selfish Giant.

Gerald’s NFB page offers a few shorts from his career.

Buster Keaton and Gerald Potterton

Gerald is justly lauded is some circles for writing and directing The Railrodder, a short 1965 film starring Buster Keaton (actually co-directing is the best one can hope for in such circumstances).

The Movie Database has a list of Gerald’s credits.

Happy Birthday Gerald! Welcome to The Club.
