Opinion sections in newspapers have long been a way to present important viewpoints to readers from a diverse set of perspectives.
With that being said, The Frontier will soon have an increased focus on what we’re calling our “Voices” section. In it, we plan on highlighting important viewpoints on important issues.
We’re also announcing that Bruce Plante, whose editorial cartoons captured the attention of an untold number of Oklahomans for more than a decade while at the Tulsa World, will now be creating a weekly cartoon for us here at The Frontier.
Bruce’s cartoons will appear on our website and social media feeds on Sundays.
Bruce, whose last cartoons for The Tulsa World appeared in September 2020,
will once more have a venue for local Oklahoma related editorials.

“I am very excited to be bringing Bruce Plante‘s editorial cartoons to The Frontier,” Frontier publisher Bobby Lorton said. “I hired Bruce Plante back in 2007 when I was a publisher of the Tulsa World. There was a time when thousands of newspapers across the country carried a daily editorial cartoon, but today not even a handful are left. I believe nonprofit news websites like The Frontier can be that new platform for this small but important craft. A good editorial cartoon makes us think and laugh and Bruce Plante is one of the best.”
