Six weeks ago I mentioned the absence of Roger Mahoney‘s name in the in-strip credits line for the Andy Capp comic strip. Naturally two days later Mahoney was back in the credits.
Then things got strange.
When the time for the non-Mahoney strips came due for Creators/GoComics’ showing they skipped them and (for the first time?) jumped ahead of the Daily Mirror strips. This was after years of the U.S. strips being delayed anywhere from five days to two weeks.
Creators/GoComics have never run those first non-Mahoney strips.
Two weeks after the initial non-Mahoney strips the Daily Mirror ran a few more credited only to Goldsmith & Garnett (December 4, 5, and 7, 2020). This time Creators/GoComics ran them, though back on a time-delayed basis.
Around the same time the Andy Capp Facebook page and the Daily Mirror Andy Capp page, which always printed the same strip on the same day, got the strips jumbled for a day or two.
Since that brief stumble the Andy Capp Daily Mirror and Facebook sites have mirrored each other; while Creators has jumped all over, from same day posting to five days later.

Which is my long winded way of saying I don’t know if Mahoney has retired, semi-retired, or is having trouble keeping up with the daily deadline (he IS 87), as, more often than not, Mahoney’s name (and lettering) has graced the Andy Capp strip since those November strips.

But note that six weeks after the first non-Mahoney daily strips,
the first non-Mahoney Sunday strip appeared today.
UPDATE:
Monday, December 28, 2020 has two different Andy Capp daily strips from
The Daily Mirror and from Creators, both without the Roger Mahoney credit.
