Sean Martin, faithful CSotD supporter and brilliant creator of the “Doc and Raider” web strip, died Monday morning, a little over two weeks after ringing down the curtain on his strip.
Randy Riddle reports on Facebook:
I’m sorry to say that our dear friend Sean Martin passed away this morning about six am.
Sean had been suffering from pancreatic cancer for several months and entered hospice care just a few days ago. He passed away, at peace, in his sleep.
Sean requested that there not be any funeral service, but I’m hoping to arrange a Zoom conference where his many friends in the US, Canada, and other countries can get together to remember his life and work.
Sean also requested that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in his name to Safe Haven for Cats in Raleigh, North Carolina.
I’ll miss his comments on my own work. I was already missing his strip.
I will miss his comments on the CSoTD as well. I was a latecomer to the “Doc and Raider” but enjoyed it for the short time I read it. Rest in peace, Sean.
I think I discovered Sean Martin and “Doc and Raider” on your site. I followed, although never commented. I loved his thoughtful take on so many things. I admit some of the content was a bit much at times for this grandmother. The overall themes, though, the characters, the commentary were wonderful. He will be missed.
I am so sad to hear this. I knew Sean was having a lot of health issues but I didn’t realize he was fighting pancreatic cancer. We didn’t always see eye to eye but I always appreciated his perspective and conversation. Rest In Peace, Sean.
