Patrick McDonnell pays tribute to Rube Goldberg in today’s Mutts.

I’m the Guy was one of many titles that made up Rube Goldberg’s comic strip. This was at a time when even daily comic strips were given enough room to have companion panels/strips.

In 1912 Rube, with Bert Grant, wrote a song with the title.
