74th Reubens – Patrick McDonnell Will Be Honored With The Elzie Segar Award

The National Cartoonists Society has announced that Mutts creator Patrick McDonnell
will receive The Elzie Segar Award at the 2020 Reubens Banquet in Kansas City.

From the NCS announcement:

On behalf of the board of directors of the National Cartoonists Society, It is my great pleasure to announce that Patrick McDonnell will be awarded the Elzie Segar award at the 74th Annual Reuben Awards in Kansas City!
The “Segar” is presented to a person who has made a unique and outstanding contribution to the profession of cartooning. It is awarded by the NCS Board of Directors in concert with President of King Features Syndicate in honor of “Popeye” creator, Elzie Segar.

Patrick will also be interviewed on stage by “For Better or For Worse” creator, Lynn Johnston at the 2020 Reubens Conference in Kansas City on Saturday 6th June, 2020 as part of the NCS Reubens weekend conference.
