Not the first time the Mitchell family has visited Hootin’ Holler.
For the Great Comic Strip Switcheroonie (April 1, 1997) Fred Lasswell had them visit the area.

 

A couple of John Rose’s neighbors also sent best wishes.

I would like to add that there was one other King Features comic strip, Pros & Cons, that featured Barney Google. Also, Garfield wished the strip happy birthday on his Facebook with some special art.
