‘Arlo and Janis,’ “Nest Heads’ Tip Hats to Famous Bushmiller Holiday Comic Bit

What is today’s Arlo and Janis? Is it an homage? An encomium? Or perhaps a panegyric to Ernie Bushmiller’s 1969 (below) Labor Day Comic. Whatever you may call it, Jimmy Johnson has done it and now it belongs to the world.

Interesting to note, that new Nancy creator Olivia Jaimes has also turned in an “I’m not working on Labor Day comic.” And at least two commenters are unhappy about what she’s done to Aunt Fritzi in the process.

And also chalk up John Allen’s “Nest Heads” as pulling another Ernie B. on us in today’s strip.
