Unfortunate Timing update

Update

Reed Brennan is alerting its clients to the Wednesday June 13 Six Chix panel:

King Features Syndicate has issued a correction for Six Chix panels and strips in black and white and color for 6/13.
Due to the death of Anthony Bourdain, an updated version of this comic has been supplied.

The original panel had mentioned Anthony Bourdain.

Original June 9 post:

Speaking of Judge Parker, as we were elsewhere today, the strip’s writer, Francesco Marciuliano, felt the need to explain about today’s Judge Parker. This past week saw a couple of celebrity suicides and coincidentally the June 9 Judge Parker comic strip mentioned a celebrity death.

Many of you who read newspaper comics know that strips are written months in advance. Well, at the very least weeks in advance. But I completely understand why this is not common knowledge. And I bring this up to stress that because of such publication deadlines today’s Judge Parker is in no way a reaction to the utterly tragic, untimely deaths of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain this week.

The full statement can be read at Ces’ website.

  1. Didn’t understand Ces’s issue. Had there been a suicide in his strip, sure. But death comes in all sizes and colors and flavors and one thing that’s sure is that it comes to all of us.

No coincidence, no need to apologize.
