San Francisco’s Cartoon Art Museum forced to find new home

The Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco will lose its current space in June after a lease ends.

From the San Francisco Chronicle:

The institution, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, has to vacate its home in downtown San Francisco after its longtime lease ends in June, but it has not yet found a new one.

?It?s the same story as just about every move like this in the Bay Area right now,? said Andrew Farago, curator of the Cartoon Art Museum. ?The price per square foot is going to more than double, and that?s just not viable for us. The landlords are giving us what considerations they can, but ultimately it?s a business decision.?

I’ve been there a couple of times. It’s a great space and it’s a shame that being such a unique museum in the backyard of Pixar and a vibrant art scene.
