Lum and Abner characters to appear in Dick Tracy on Sunday

From the Longview News-Journal (Longview, TX):

Carthage cartoonist Donnie Pitchford?s characters Lum and Abner will guest-star in the award-winning “Dick Tracy” comic strip on Sunday, July 20.

?Lum and Abner, those two loveable characters from Pine Ridge, Ark. will be part of a unique series in which the great detective rescues another famous comic character, Orphan Annie, who was immortalized in the hit musical ?Annie?,? Pitchford said.

Earlier this year current Dick Tracy cartoonists Mike Curtis and Joe Staton announced they were going to pick up the cliffhanging story-line from the end of Annie in which she is kidnapped. The Dick Tracy story-line has Daddy Warbucks hiring Dick Tracy to pick up the trail and find his daughter.
