Disney/Pixar announces Cars and The Incredibles sequels
Skip to commentsVariety reports that Disney plans to release a third Cars feature film and a sequel to The Incredibles. The announcement was made during a shareholders meeting.
Quite frankly, I’m excited for The Incredibles sequel. It’s one of my favorite Pixar films and I’ve read that writer/director Brad Bird has resisted moving forward with a sequel to the original 2004 film because he wanted the right script. That, I believe, bodes well.
ON THE OTHER HAND – Cars 2 was Pixar’s jump the shark moment. Sure it grossed an obscene amount of money, but it represented the moment the Pixar approach to movies (tell a great story, make money) caved to the Disney approach (just. make. the. money!). So Cars 3? Meh. Thanks, but I’ll keep my cash.
