Aseem Trivedi ready to run for congress

Political cartoonist and activist Aseem Trivedi says he’ll be the Aam Aadmi Party candidate for congress if the party offers him the ticket.

From CNN-IBN:

Riding high on its outstanding performance in Delhi elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is likely to field cartoonist-turned-activist Aseem Trivedi from Kanpur Lok Sabha constituency against Congress’ Sriprakash Jaiswal and Samajwadi Party’s candidate Raju Srivastava.

“Yes, talks are on with the AAP leaders pertaining to Lok Sabha ticket from Kanpur,” Aseem Trivedi told News18 over the phone.

“I am ready to contest against Sriprakash Jaiswal if AAP offers me ticket. Let’s see,” Aseem Trivedi added.

Aseem was arrested on sedition charges in 2012 for mocking the Indian Constitution in a cartoon which caused widespread protest.
