NYT Profiled: Art Spiegelman and the new retrospective exhibit in NYC

Charles Mcgrath of The New York Times profiles Art Spiegelman about his new exhibit “Art Spiegelman?s Co-Mix: A Retrospective” in the Jewish Museum in New York City.

The show, ?Art Spiegelman?s Co-Mix: A Retrospective,? is actually the fourth retrospective of his work in less than a year. ?You?ve heard of the Great Depression?? Mr. Spiegelman said. ?This is the Great Retrospection,? and he added that he sometimes felt as if he had been retrospecting for half his life. At times, he worried that he wasn?t doing enough new work, and he sometimes thought of himself as a deep-sea diver about to run out of oxygen. ?I had to get reborn or die,? he said.

Exhibit runs through March 23, 2014.
