Indian political party expels cartoonist Aseem Trivedi from reality TV show

The Republican Party of India has said it will take steps to remove Aseem Trivedi from the reality TV show Bigg Boss. Earlier this fall, Aseem was arrested and charged with sedition for drawing cartoons that insulted Indian national symbols and emblems. Aseem then announced he would be a contestant in “Bigg Boss” in an effort to be “seen and heard”.

The Hindu now reports that the president of the Republican Party has demanded that the network be removed from the show as the channel was giving Aseem “undue prominence.” Apparently the network has agreed and Aseem will be expelled during this Friday’s show.
