Family Circus heading to the big screen

On the heels of the announcement that comic strip character Heathcliff is being adapted to the big screen,

Variety is reporting that Fox and Walden Media have hired Nichole Millard and Kathryn Price to adapt the comic strip Family Circus to a feature film. A Family Circus movie has been in development since 2010.

The strip has been adapted to animation before. The feature had three television specials back in 1978, 1979 and 1982 (A Special Valentine with the Family Circus, A Family Circus Christmas, and A Family Circus Easter respectively).

I can’t find any information on whether the movie will be live action, combined live and CGI or animated.

Family Circus was created by Bil Keane in 1960. His son Jeff Keane is currently producing the strip.
