Dale Cummings takes buyout at Winnipeg Free Press

Ottawa Le Droit editorial cartoonist Guy Badeaux (aka Bado) reports that fellow Canadian editorial cartoonist Dale Cummings, has taken a buyout and is leaving his staff job with the Winnipeg Free Press. Dale been with the paper for 31 years. He was the recipient of the National Newspaper Award in 1983 and was a finalist in 2004.

I really like his work, I’m fortunate enough to see it on a regular basis. He has a great talent for avoiding the editorial cliches, and I love his drawing style. Anybody know if they’re replacing him, or just going with a wire service?
