Comic strips

MacNelly, Cassatt, Brookins produce comics for TV political drama show

Original Shoe comics for Political Animals companion website

Susie MacNelly, Chris Cassatt and Gary Brookins, who are carrying on the legacy of Jeff MacNelly’s Shoe comic strip, are producing six original Shoe strips for an online companion website for the USA Network original miniseries Political Animals. The show’s fictional national newspaper, The Washington Globe features weekly updates of plot points and the show’s back story. The website is broken up in to sections like a real newspaper. Shoe runs in the Funny Pages section.

Susie says for this project, she, Chris and Gary were given advance screenings scripts to the show so that they could write gags related to each episode’s plot twists.

Political Animals debuted on USA Networks on July 15. While the strips don’t appear in the show, if you’re into political dramas, you can watch the series for free on Hulu.
