I always enjoy Mark Anderson’s videos. This one is how he does shading with Prismacolor cool grey markers. Check out his blog too for a few more interesting tidbits on the paper he uses and the size that he draws (spoiler!: small).

I love Mark’s cartoons. What he says about Photoshop is my hangup as well. Organic, quick drawing like this tends to produce lose stuff that I like and if I’m doing something digitally I can get hung up on minute details forever.
But both methods produce stuff I like, it’s just that the styles can be really different depending on what equipment I’m using.
(Note to self: A clamped iPhone can produce a decent video of me drawing.)
Hey, thanks for the nice write-up, Alan! Much appreciated my inky pal!
This is great! I’m trying to always challenge my style and this gives me some good techniques to try! Thanks Alan AND Mark!!!
Enjoyed it Mark! Cool and very Concise!
Very cool Mark.
Nice intimate demo, Mark. Just recovering from the vertigo. Do you ever submit hard copies?
