Jay Kennedy Memorial Scholarship awarded to Sarah Miller

The National Cartoonists Society Foundation (NCSF) has announced they’ve selected Sarah Miller as this year’s Jay Kennedy Memorial Scholarship winner. She’s a student at Savannah College of Art and Design where she studies illustration. She also writes and illustrates comics, paints, and does caricatures at conventions. She recently completed an illustrated book based on a short story by H. P. Lovecraft.

As the winner, she’ll receive a trip to the National Cartoonists Society?s Reuben Award weekend in Las Vegas in May and a $5,000 scholarship.

  1. Congrats to Sarah! Very talented and deserving. I’ve noticed that the winners always seems to be heavy into illustration rather than more traditional newspaper-style cartooning. Extremely talented though!

  2. As a cartoonist who worked with Jay AND a professor of animation and sequential art here at SCAD…congrats to a SCAD student!
