Chuck Ayer talks about the new mural of Funky Winkerbean and Crankshaft characters on a new mural in the student lounge area at Kent State University.

Ayers, class of 1971, partnered with friend and colleage Tom Batiuk, author of the comic strip Funky Winkerbean and fellow Kent State alumnus, to create a mural depicting the college student experience from acceptance to graduation. The mural lines the walls of a new student lounge, called “The Nest,” that will debut to students on Monday.
