Bizarro hits 27; 10,000 cartoon

Dan Piraro just celebrated 27 years of his comic panel Bizarro and has now drawn over 10,000 cartoons.

He sums up his thoughts on his blog:

So happy anniversary to me and to Bizarro. Here is a brief list of highlights from my career:
1985–got syndicated
1990–still syndicated
2000–syndicated some more
2010–can’t afford to quit
2012–more cartoons? Are you kidding?

If you’re in the Washington D.C. area, Dan will be doing his stand-up performance at the Riot Act Comedy Theater on March 11.

  1. I have always loved single panel comics, and I have many inspirations and heroes in that arena. Gahan Wilson, Charles Addams, and of course, Gary Larson come to mind. Dan Piraro has always been up there in that pantheon for me. 27 years…good Lord, man. Congratulations.

  2. Piraro’s cartoons always make me laugh. He is one of the best.

  3. I’ve been a HUGE fan of Dan’s since day one. I am a storyteller and think single panels cartoons are extremely tough to write. Congrats Dan!!!!!!

  4. A simple secret to Dan’s success: He’s always clever and he’s always funny! Happy 27th!

  5. 10,000! Let’s hope for 10,000 more even with help from others in occassion like Wayno!
