Profiled: Lalo Alcaraz and La Cucaracha

OB Rag (Ocean Beach, CA) interviews La Cucaracha creator Lalo Alcaraz. A couple of things I didn’t know about Lalo: He has a weekly radio program in L.A. and is a faculty member at Otis College of Art & Design.

Al Carlos interviews Lalo about his beginnings and how his cartooning focus has changed over the years.

AC: At what point did politics and art converge? Are you an artist or political activist?

LA: I turned political cartoons into protest art in the early 90?s during the racist Prop. 187 era.

La Cucaracha has been in daily syndication since 2002.
