High school honors student arrested in connection to Jihad Jan
Skip to commentsMohammad Hassan Khalid, a high school honors student and Pakistani immigrant, was arrested last week on charges of “material support of terrorism” in connection to Colleen LaRose (AKA Jihad Jane) who was arrested for plotting to kill Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks. He was only 15 when he got involved (just turned 18 last week). The FBI is charging Khalid as an adult.
From an AP story on The Chron:
According to the indictment, Khalid tried to recruit men to wage jihad, or a violent holy war, in Europe and South Asia, and women who had passports to travel through Europe. He had met Colleen LaRose, who had dubbed herself “Jihad Jane” in YouTube videos, in an online chat room when he was about 15, according to the indictment.
LaRose has plead guilty to four federal charges and is facing a life sentence. Khalid’s attorneys say the government took “unconstitutional liberties” when dealing with the teen at the time of his involvement.
