Check out: The Impact of Comics and Visual Art on Culture

As part of the Cartoonists Remember 9/11, The Society of Illustrators are presenting a forum entitled “The Impact of Comics and Visual Art on Culture” tomorrow night (Sept. 8). Panelists include Rick Detorie creator of One Big Happy, Tony Rubino Daddy’s Home and Brian Walker Hi and Lois. King Features Syndicate Comics Editor Brendan Burford will moderate.

Here’s the description of the event:

Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, marks the 10th anniversary of one of the darkest days in American history. In respect of the occasion, the major comic syndicates have rallied their cartoonists to dedicate their strips on that day to those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks.

  1. Sounds good. 10 years ago Rick London pulled together a wide cross-section of cartoonist, national and international, to reflect on 9/11 (within days after the event) which might also be worth a look. http://www.londonstimes.us/cat/cat.html – FYI.

  2. Wouldn’t it be nice to see all the cartoons generated by this anniversary published in a book?
