Westergaard trial in Jordan begins next week

Kurt Westergaard, who penned the most infamous Mohammed cartoon depicting the prophet with a bomb on his head instead of a turban, will stand trial next week in the Jordanian capital of Amman. The summons was filed in 2008 with charges of “crimes of blasphemy” by 30 independent newspapers, websites and radio stations in Jordan. From the reports I’ve read online, it doesn’t sound like he’s going to be there personally. In a previous interview, Westergaard said he would like to go to Amman to defend himself, but feared he’s already been convicted.
